Day 1 - Milwaukee
Last night we had a couple of going away parties. First with my work family, and then with our friends from the hood. I’m too old to do shots. I need to remember this, maybe even have it tattooed on my hand so I don’t forget. So, with that, we slept late and eventually left home around noon.

We had a couple stops in Indy, then headed north to Chicago. Traffic was terrible, as expected on a Friday afternoon in the Windy City. We stopped just north of the city to pick up some candy for the trip. We arrived at our Milwaukee hotel around 5:30pm, checked in and gave Fern a chance to run around for a bit before dinner.
This is Larry the baby praying mantis Monica rescued (and named, sang to and took on walks around an envelope) from our truck to a park.
We drove up to the Historic 3rd Ward district for dinner. Cafe Benelux had outdoor seat that allowed us to bring Fern along. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset while waiting for a table. Cocktails were excellent. The Kale Artichoke dip was phenomenal. I had the Friday night fish fry and Monica had the sprocket burger. Both were good.
After dinner we had planned to go to Summerfest for some music, but the crowds were large and we decided to pass on the Covid gamble. Instead, we walked around for a while and made our way back to the hotel.
