Day 8- Jackson WY

Woke up early at the park, coffee/ bageled at the Lander Bakery and headed west to Jackson via the Wind River range. We drove past an Indian reservation, a military museum and a huge antelope herd. Searched in vain for a locally known hole in the ground in the middle of nowhere with azure blue/green waters from beneath the earth. You can lower by rope into it but was not meant for us today- GPS coordinates didn’t work.  The prairie morphed into painted mountains as we followed the winding Wind River west.

Found the MOST beautiful Brooks Lake in Shoshone National Park. Watched a hawk hunt the lake and took in the silence before heading out to Grand Tetons and Jenny Lake campground.

Jenny Lake campground registration ranger to Jason: “You must be from the south, where you from?”
Jason: “upstate New York. Joking, Alabama” 😂

Minutes later the same ranger rolled up to our campsite“Someone just cancelled 2 more nights so u want them?” Trip Magic! Left camp quick in late afternoon to check out Jackson an hour away.

Crazy! We ran right into Jason’s Alabama family in Jackson WY! Emily and Brandon- we walked dead into them in downtown Jackson. Soooo great to see them.

Jackson is fun but crowded and shopping centric this time of year, so we ate tacos, bought some clothes ans headed back to camp. Watched a bright half moon drop behind a mountain before a million stars came out.
