Day Zero

Tomororw we take off on a journey that we have wanted to embark on for as long as either of us could remember. We have a loose plan, and we don’t want anything more than that. We want to explore, where ever the trip leads us. We didn’t take a long time to plan this trip. In fact, it was only two weeks prior that we even considered the idea.  We then spent the first week away from home, and only started packing a week out. Hopefully that doesn’t prove to be a poor decision. We expect to be fine, considering the experience we both have with camping and traveling.

Both Monica and I plan to blog about our trip. The goal is to share this experience with friends and family, but also to make a log that we can read years later to spark memories of our epic (for us) adventure.  This is a rough guess at a route below. We aren’t locked in to this and fully expect to make changes along the route. https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1C34TDrdeibUm0npYvqmXfil9-ZIdxV8x
The first night will be Summerfest in Milwaukee. From there, we are working our way through Minnesota towards the Badlands and Black Hills, SD.

We lucked across this Roofnest Sandpiper rooftop tent just a week before our departure date. It’s in great shape and should prove to be much more comfortable than tent-ing on the ground. The tent was the only substantial purchase we made for the trip. We were fortunate to already have a good brace of camping and traveling gear. Otherwise, this would have be a much more expensive endeavor. (Jason)

I whipped up a little “more or less” list:

MORE: AM/PM yoga, walk after meals, bikes, open communication, active listening, arguing tools, drink water, learn to cook killer salads, exploring local/not local, passport use, forgiveness, nature time, learning and seeing new things!! (Monica)More: free spiritedness, smiles, yoga, giving. (Jason)

LESS: big meals (special treat 2/week), clickbait, screen time, carbs. (Monica)Less: anxiety, stubbornness, planning. (Jason)
