Day 19- JAM’s Beautiful Drive through Idaho / Grangeville to Cascade

Monica did her zoom interview wearing her best fleece, finger  combed hair and no makeup. If they decide to hire her let’s just say it’ll all get better from here.

We drove 3 hours south along north running Snake River through what can only be called God’s country- neither pictures nor words can capture its hypnotic beauty. The Snake confluences with the mighty Salmon River across a constantly changing landscape making it redundant to say “wow look at that”, so we didnt. We drove mostly in a reverent silence just to absorb its beauty.. either that or we were fighting haha.

Arrived into tiny Cascade, ID at the Birch Glen Lodge for 2 nights indoors, as temps dropped to the 30’s. It’s a family run business with a big fluffy dog in the office, Max, who became Ferns buddy, along with Dixie, a sweet, chunky pit bull both belonging to the owner.  They had 2 horses nearby, chickens, some trailers and a campfire spot. We ate dinner at the Lakefront Inn. Food was just so-so but we loved the local feel of the place and the lake was beautiful at sunset. Even when you’re a tourist it’s nice to not be surrounded by tourists.
