Day 20- Cascade; Trail Creek Hot Springs in Boise National Forest
Local guys at the Birch Lodge told us to head to Trail Creek hot springs, which we promptly did in the chilly morning. Had a tiny scare upon finding this remote spring with an onory key fab (and back up key) both ceasing to function in the middle of literal nowhere and no cell service. Drove back to where we had service, still basically in boonies but on gorgeous ridge with forest roads and a bottomed out chair and table.

Was so pretty and quiet we did a little bushwhacking along power lines and across an old bridge covered in snow. We saw weird mossy plants that looked like alien spaghetti. Jason and Google figured out the key issue and back up to hot springs we went.

Side note: there are free guest use life jackets hanging around Idaho parks with lakes. Don’t see that down south- Darwin rules there.
Headed out next day for Boise, where the big city folk live south of Cascade.
Amongst giant fir trees as far as the eye can see,we dove into a private boiling hot spring and waterfall in the middle of a cold creek. Locals cemented a simple pvc pipe into the springs circular rock walls so you could cool it down with cold river water. People have done the hot/ cold thing for centuries and why? IT FEELS AMAZING! Wakes all dem old cells up like the first day of boot camp. There were patches of snow around, even at 70 degrees at noon.
Crazy beautiful earth we have here- these 2 pics taken same day, same place.
